Granular data needed to understand impact of COVID-19 pandemic on cities: Report

Canadian Urban Institute says though data-sharing has been improved, more is needed to come up with 'hyper-local' solutions.

Canadian cities are taking the brunt of the health and economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, but there isn’t enough detailed data about the virus to understand the full impact and devise local solutions, according to a new report.

Statistics Canada's Data Literacy Training Initiative

On September 23, 2020, Statistics Canada released the Data Literacy Training Initiative. This initiative "provides a wealth of resources for those who are new to data or who have some experience with data, but may need a refresher or want to expand their knowledge". Part of the initiative is a series of data training videos which can be found in the Learning Catalogue.

Canadian Urban Institute: CUI research calls for the creation of a Canadian urban policy observatory

The Canadian Urban Institute have released a report titled The Case for a Canadian Urban Policy Observatory, which discusses the need for "a 'one-stop-shop' for comprehensive, comparable, and actionable information on the state of Canada’s cities and city-regions".
