In September, the results of the Canadian Student Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drugs Survey (CSTADS) were released for the 2014-15 year. The CSTADS is a national survey of tobacco, alcohol and drug use among Canadian students in grades 6 to 12. More than 42,000 students responded to the survey, conducted by the Propel Centre for Population Health Impact at the University of Waterloo on behalf of Health Canada.
Times have changed! Canadian cultural industries are undergoing important transformations - Canadians now have access to online movies that can be watched at the click of a button, books can be borrowed from the library without leaving the house, new bands are discovered through social media - everything is shared digitally and becoming more accessible!
According to preliminary estimates, Canada's population was 36,286,425 on July 1, 2016, an increase of 437,815 or 1.2% during the year 2015/2016. In absolute numbers, such an increase had not been recorded since 1988/1989 (+485,034)!

On October 17, 2016, Statistics Canada will launch its new crowdsourcing campaign!
The crowdsourcing pilot project will focus on mapping buildings across Canada, starting with Ottawa or Gatineau. Crowdsourcing involves collecting information from a large community of users, relying on the principle that individual citizens are experts within their local environments.

The Columbia Basin-Boundary Community Data Consortium is CCSD’s 32nd to be established within the CDP. Located in southeast British Columbia, this consortium is led by Selkirk College through its Columbia Basin Rural Development Institute. The consortium catchment area includes the Regional Districts of East Kootenay, Central Kootenay, Kootenay Boundary, in addition to Revelstoke, Golden, Valemount and Columbia Shuswap Regional District Areas A and B with a combined population of 161,741 (in 2011).
