This file contains population estimates for census tracts (CTs) according to the Standard Geographical Classification (SGC) 2021. Population estimates for CTs are not available for years prior to their addition to the reference Standard Geographical Classification, except in cases where new CTs are the result of a rearranging of previously existing CTs. Cases where population estimates are not available prior to 2021 are marked with an asterisk (*) in the "SGC2021 new CT" column.
Postcensal estimates are based on the latest census counts adjusted for census net undercoverage (including adjustment for incompletely enumerated reserves and settlements) and on the estimated population growth that occurred since that census, as calculated using fiscal data. Intercensal estimates are based on postcensal estimates and census counts adjusted of the censuses preceding and following the considered year.

Population estimates for census tracts (CTs) are calibrated to aggregate exactly to the population estimates of their parent census metropolitan area (CMA) or census agglomeration (CA). This can lead to minor differences between population estimates obtained from aggregated CTs and those disseminated for other geographies whose boundaries do not align exactly with CMAs or CAs.
