This presentation will look at the measures of household food insecurity through the lens of the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS), which has collected the Household Food Security Survey Module (HFSSM) since 2005. Topics covered will be: details on food security measures from HFSSM, its operationalization in CCHS, what the results show for who experiences food insecurity, data limitations and gaps, and complementary data sources. Time will be reserved for participant questions and discussions.

About the presenters:

Shawn Brulé, Centre for Population Health Data.

Shawn is the manager of dissemination and data products for the Canadian Community Health Survey. He has worked at Statistics Canada since 2010, and the CCHS since 2013. Shawn graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics.
