On Tuesday, November 6 at 1:00pm Eastern time, the Community Data Program (CDP) will deliver a webinar-based tutorial workshop on Census Target Group Profile tables and the new "Individual Target Group Profiles Data Investigation Template" that is being made available to CDP members.

Target group profiles (TGPs) provide data about a specific group of persons (a "target group"). All variables in the TGP relate to the persons in this group: their age, gender, family status, languages, etc.. TGPs can be used to compare Census data for a target group population to the population as a whole to better understand specific populations within our communities.

Data investigation template: Makes it easier for users of the TGP tables to extract, visualize, and review the contents of these tables. This tutorial will cover accessing the data and downloading from the CDP catalogue, extracting the data from the Beyond 20/20 .ivt files, and working with the data in the TGP template.

This is an intermediate level tutorial. Participants who will benefit the most will have basic familiarity with:

  • Microsoft Excel- especially working with charts
  • Data extraction from the Beyond 20/20 browser.

Participants who wish to follow along should ensure they have:

  • Beyond 20/20 software installed on their computers. You can install it from here.
  • At least one Target Group Profile table
  • TGP template (will be shared via e-mail)

Please note: This template was developed in MS Excel 2013 and may perform differently in different editions of the software.
