This session will tell the story of how the Peel Region Census Information Hub was designed. It will include a description of the Census content included, using ArcGIS Online tools, and the lessons learned along the way. We will demonstrate the Hub and take a look a the backend of the ArcGIS Hub technology. Jamie Carrick from the CDP will also provide a live demonstration on mapping with CDP using QGIS.

Presenters:

  • Kevin Farrugia is an Advisor with the Peel Data Centre, where he started as a co-op student 11 years ago. After graduating with a Geomatics degree, he’s built on his hard and soft skills through many diverse projects and through working with other civil servants and citizens to provide and use data. Now most of his time is spent working with colleagues on improving GIS and data maturity, improving access to data, and integrating automation into workflows, as well as continuing to lead the Open Data program.
  • Andrea Dort is a Specialist in Data and Outreach with the Peel Data Centre. As the lead for socio-demographic data, Andrea works with users to better understand and use data. Building on her background in GIS, Andrea enjoys merging spatial elements with demographics and finding new ways to open up data for all users.
  • Jamie Carrick is a data analyst and administrator with the Community Data Program.
