Notes

The item called “Canada Child Benefit” in our Standard Products includes all the pieces of the federal Canada Child Benefit program in 2016, i.e. Universal Child Care Benefit, Canada Child Tax Benefit from January 2016 to June 2016 and Canadian Child Benefit starting in July 2016. At the moment, there is no plans on updating the format of F-06 or I-04 to reflect the change in the program. The main impact will be in the level of benefits received by family type and the proportion of families receiving the benefits.

Table 11-10-0014-01 shows the evolution of the benefits between 2015 and 2016. The average for Canada shows that the total amount has increased faster than the number of families receiving the benefit. Since 2016 is a transition year (part of the year was CCTB+UCCB and the other part was CCB), the impact will be clearer with 2017 data. The Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer has also produced a document (CCB_EN.PDF,  http://www.pbo-dpb.gc.ca/web/default/files/Documents/Reports/2016/CCB/CCB_EN.pdf) showing some impact on the numbers.
