Description

Data tables for custom geographies are typically produced using the long form (25% sample) Census database. This extract from the 2021 Census Profile uses the short form (100% sample) Census database.   It contains all variables from the short form except income-related data. The tables have only been acquired for custom geographies, as the 100% sample data for standard geographies is freely available on the Statistics Canada website:

Notes

Users will note discrepancies in the counts between the Census Profile variables from the 100% sample and the 25% sample.

Users that are comparing variables from the both the short form (25%) and long form (100%), should use the long form source to maintain consistency. For example, if the user is comparing the visible minority population to the total population, then the total population count should come from the long form, because visible minority data is only available from the long form. When calculating the prevalence of the recent immigrant population, the total population denominator should use the long form data.
