The CCSD’s President and CEO, Peggy Taillon, today announced the addition of a new program to its suite, Community Analytics. This initiative complements and builds on our flagship program, the Community Data Program (CDP).

The CCSD’s CDP is a gateway for municipalities, community sector organizations and others to access customized data tables, acquired from Statistics Canada and other sources, to monitor and report on social and economic development trends within their communities. The gateway provides access to a low cost, diversity of social data at the smallest geographies possible, for local and service planning. Members of the CDP benefit from training to analyze community data and use it for better decision making.

When federal or provincial government departments, national non-profits, international organizations or others need data analysis done on their behalf, the Community Analytics team is ready to step in.

“Many organizations face challenges in analyzing complex data sets to get at the evidence they need to support effective social innovation, program development and evaluation.” said Peggy Taillon, “I am pleased to announce that the CCSD is launching a new service called Community Analytics, drawing on three of the CCSD's key resources: the data, the network and the research expertise.”

The Community Analytics offering combines CCSD’s extensive data holdings, its broad network of over 6,000 partners across Canada and a wealth of professional experience and expertise in generating, analyzing and producing custom data products.

“Clients can order research using customized tables at the smallest available geographic scale and will also be able to compare trends to others in their town, city or other communities across the country,” said Katherine Scott, Vice President, Research and Policy. “This comparative perspective can enhance understanding and planning.”

Michel Frojmovic is the Lead for CCSD’s Community Data Program. “Community Analytics services may include custom analytics and research, data analysis and visualization, mapping and community atlases, benchmarking and comparative analysis, neighbourhood profiles and report cards, depending on the client’s needs,” said Michel. “The team is also ready to develop research reports, fact sheets, web briefs, policy analysis, and literature reviews.”

Community Analytics is a fee-based offering. Contact Katherine Scott scott@ccsd.ca or Michel Frojmovic michel@ccsd.ca to discuss your needs.

Today’s launch is in keeping with the CCSD’s recently announced mission and strategic direction in Nation Building through evidence, collaboration and design, our framework for the future.

CCSD is a not-for-profit organization that partners and collaborates with all sectors (not-for-profit, philanthropic, government and business) and communities to advance solutions to today’s toughest social challenges. As a neutral, non-partisan, non-governmental and independent organization, the CCSD believes challenges can be solved through a deliberative approach that is inclusive of all partners, ensuring that the end user is part of framing the issues and the solutions. Simply put, society designed the problem – whether inequality, homelessness, discrimination, climate change, to name a few – but we also have the power to “design” the solution.
